Tackle It Tuesday

School Lunch

Our kids get tired of the same ol routine. As much as PB&J is near and dear to my heart it gets boring after a while. And really how many times can you eat turkey and cheese?

Thanks to the design of the lunch boxes these days, your brown bag lunch has turned into a whole new experience!

Bento Boxes from Japanistic.com are all the rage!  These boxes are great and keep everything separated.  Now I realize that sushi can be expensive! But I like my kids to explore food options, even options I wont eat myself.  Vegetable sushi rolls are great and you can get them from your local supermarket!  Check out these Faux Sushi Rolls!  I found an easy way to make sticky rice at home WITHOUT the need for a bamboo steamer.  Pair the sticky rice with some steamed veggies or the Faux Sushi Rolls and your kiddo is good to go with a fun new lunch!

How bout a new spin on the ham and cheese!  Ham and Cheese kabobs! Or turkey and cheese Kabobs! Or ham, turkey, and cheese Kabobs!  Just skewer cubes of meats and cheeses on kabobs. Pair the kabobs with some honey mustard, or other dip and some crackers!  If you fear the idea of skewers (as I might with my 7 year old) than use a small cookie cutter shape like letters or a tiny dinosaur and stamp out some cheese than add the meat cubes in a reusable eco friendly container.

Do you kids love cerial?  How about for lunch.  Just pour dry cerial in a reusable eco friendly bowl with a lid. In another container add bananas or you kids fav fruit topping.  They can grab a milk at the lunch counter! Dont froget a reusable spoon!

My DD loves peanut butter and celery!  So in a reusable container i put small celery sticks I pack her a tube of skippy ( who knew that idea would be useful) and some raisins and crackers.

For a new spin on a regular sandwich use sandwich cutters for some flair!  You can find a bunch here!  Or just grab some at your local supermarket. Also don’t be afraid to use plain ole cookie cutters!

Make lunch fun!!

Mr. Morey…….As A Dad

by admin on August 27, 2010

I was really lucky (or blessed I guess) to be able to speak comfortably on the record with Mr. Morey. We talked about families, we talked about a family business, we talked about my work with Disney (gasp) and Hershey Chocolate. We talked about his son. We talked to his son…..and eventually when the camera turned on Zack Morey actually talked a little to me. (gasp even more….being a college kid….I am sure he was delighted to talk to me…LOL). One day, I know my boys are going to be his age and I am going to have to call Mr. Morey for advice because I don’t know what I will do with that stage. I might need to make a wish on a star that they are young again riding the ferris wheel, rollorcoaster or

A lot of people know who the Moreys are. They are the family business owners of the boardwalk. They hold a key attraction to Wildwood. Sure, their or others but the boardwalk attractions in Wildwood, Morey’s Piers, are THE spot!

I like to see real people. I like to see people be parents. I like to meet the community and Cape May Moms has given me that as a gift. It is by far the best part about owning this domain online. Getting to get to know who I use to go to school with again in a “mommy state” and see how we have changed and getting to know the businesses in the area, especially the older ones are awesome!

By far getting to know part of the Morey’s pier family was a cool experience for me. Why? Because way back when, I use to ring a bell on a boat that went around in a circle with an old friend and that memory is a Morey’s Memory and that boat……was a Morey’s boat…..and I am hoping one day all my kids will get the chance to ride that boat too.
